Mavar is running a special event in November on the subject of ‘HOW TO BUY ART’ (inspired by the hugely popular Netflix series, Shtisel) which will take place at the Mayfair art gallery of Omer Tiroche.
The main speaker for the evening will be Jeremy Lewison, former Director of Collections at Tate, who will be in conversation with Omer to provide insights and tips about the world of buying art, for the novice buyer. This will be followed by a mini auction of works by professional artists including the 2019 BP Portrait Artist of the Year (1st prize winner), and emerging ex Charedi artists – who receive 50% of the proceeds. There will also be a short presentation by a formerly Charedi young person about leaving the closed world of ultra-orthodoxy, and an opportunity to enjoy Omer Tiroche’s current exhibition: Id, Ego and Superego: An Investigation of Self-Portraiture. So all in all, this should be a fascinating evening.
Further details are on the invitation above. All are welcome, so if you’d like tickets (at £55 per head, including refreshments) contact: firstname.lastname@example.org.
