Volunteers

Mavar is a volunteer-led organisation and we are always happy to hear from new people who would like to get involved.

If you’re interested in volunteering, contact:

London – mavar@mavar.org.uk

Mavar North – sally@mavar.org.uk

Most volunteers bring a degree of specialism and experience with them.

We are currently actively looking for applicants for the following:

  • Mentor – the point of contact for Mavar members, who can provide an empathetic ear, empower people to achieve their goals, and signpost to the right service at the right time.
  • Counsellor – we refer to a dedicated team of BACP or UKCP accredited counsellors who are able to provide services to our members.

Other volunteer roles include:

  • Tutor
  • Befriender – join our Under 35’s Network
  • Specialist advisor: eg educational, legal, careers, welfare
  • Board members

Potential experience, over and above the specialisms named above, could include:

  • Social work
  • Psychotherapy
  • Teaching
  • Family law
  • CAB advisor
  • Fundraising

However, if you have other skills to offer, such as creative problem-solving, do get in touch. We’d also be delighted to hear from people with good employment or funding networks. We particularly encourage volunteers with lived experience of the strictly orthodox world, who have now left and wish to support those on a similar journey.
